The South Dakota Freedom Coalition has released the 2012 South Dakota Freedom Index. This annual scorecard is an attempt to provide the people of South Dakota a useful and educational snapshot of how their state legislators voted and to apply some basic prniciples of good government in evaluating their performance in Pierre. Issues examined include concealed carry permits, state-level ObamaCare, illegal immigration, abortion and wealth redistribution.

Senator John Thune (R-S.D.) says the American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) report released today clearly shows that the Democrat-controlled Senate’s recently passed tax legislation would jeopardize the future of 71 percent of South Dakota’s family farms because it intentionally returns the death tax exemption to $1 million next year instead of keeping it at the current $5 million.

Recently, NBC News came out with a breathless headline announcing the shocking news that, “Top CEOs donate to Romney over Obama by 4-1 margin.” In response to this “story”, Americans for Limited Government decided to examine the political giving of NBC corporate executives. Of course, NBC, the parent company of MSNBC, lost all pretense of objectivity years ago, but the giving patterns in the Obama/Romney race are stark.

The latest robocall exposing the liberal “Republican” leadership in the South Dakota House went out to South Dakota voters today, this time from Jeremy. Jeremy is a Republican voter and belives traditional conservative principles are the answer to our nation’s problems. However, the RINO leadership in the South Dakota House-including Russ Olson, David Lust and Brian Gosch-are undermining Republican values with their liberal votes.

The illegal alien issue could be quite humorous…if lawbreaking, violation national borders and national security weren’t such incredibly serious things. Of course, in the mind of Leftists, all these pale in comparison to making lawbreakers feel good about themselves. Illegal aliens don’t want to be identified with their illegal, lawbreaking activity. They want to be known as “undocumented” rather than what they have done. Perverting words does not change reality.

I love it when Leftists are honest (it’s so rare, it makes a very special treat). This video from an Occupy DC meeting recently shows former Amalgamated Transit Union local 689 president Mike Golash admitting that the goal of today’s unions are to promote communism and overturn our free market system.

Across America politicians of both parties will tell you the number one issue facing our country is job creation. They’re right — yet what they continually refuse to acknowledge is that creating these jobs is not their responsibility.

Conservatives are quick to criticize public welfare for the poor, pointing out that it often undermines natural consequences and the incentives that flow therefrom. Such criticism is often well founded—poverty frequently becomes multigenerational when “solved” by simply throwing money at the poor. But conservatives should no less vehement in their opposition to corporate welfare, a form of welfare that is running rampant while the taxpayers of our country are dying a slow death of a thousand payouts.

Many of you have inquired about the recent humongous ammunition purchase orders by the NOAA Weather service. The news cycle has run its course and the Mainstream Media [MSM] apparently have no worries about any action taken by this Obama government. The MSM refuses to cover the outrageous actions of the Attorney General Eric Holder Justice Department during “Operation Fast and Furious.” So why would one expect them to cover something like this ammunition order in the NOAA?

Obama offers the supposed easy route of government subsidy and provision. It’s billed as the new norm. After all, why degrade oneself by working for less than your true worth when you can be realized for your true value by government?
