Fluke Flunkies Flunk Basic Contraception…and Freedom

Fluke Flunkies Flunk Basic Contraception…and Freedom

Remember Georgetown University student and feminist activist Sandra Fluke who testified to congress that she was having so much sex that she needed the government to force others to surrender their religious liberty to pay for her $1,000-a-year contraception bill? Well, she’s campaigning for The One, and Caleb Bonham of Revealing Politics interviewed some rally attenders about this important issue. We get some real gems that pass for “pearls of wisdom” on the Left.

Mileage Standards and Unintended Consequences

Legislators and regulators need to observe a fundamental Golden Rule: Do not implement new laws if you have not considered or cannot control important unintended consequences. A perfect example is the Obama Administration’s plan to increase new car mileage standards, from the currently legislated requirement of 35.5 miles per gallon by 2016 to 54.5 mpg by 2025, as an average across each automaker’s complete line of cars and light trucks. This will bring higher costs to both new and used care purchasers, as well as diminish car occupant safety in crashes.

A Trillion Dollars Closer to the Cliff

A Trillion Dollars Closer to the Cliff

The Congressional Budget Office provided a glimpse at the 10-month mark of the federal fiscal year 2012, and the results are grim. The nitty gritty numbers show that in the federal fiscal spending year ending Sept. 30, 2011, the government ended up spending more than $3.6 trillion with revenues of $2.3 trillion leaving a $1.3 trillion deficit — that’s $1,300,000,000,000.00. That makes four consecutive years that Obama has presided over a budget deficit in excess of $1.2 trillion and more than $5 trillion added to the deficit on his watch.

It’s Not Romney’s ‘Hidden’ Tax Returns; It’s Obama’s Hidden Past

It’s Not Romney’s ‘Hidden’ Tax Returns; It’s Obama’s Hidden Past

Throughout this latest red herring tactic about Mitt Romney’s taxes by Harry Reid and the Obama Democrat machine, I have been thinking about how astonishingly brazen these communist tools are in attempting to shine a spotlight on Romney’s past tax records—an absolute non-story—when Barack Obama (or whatever his name is) has a past that is almost completely hidden and sealed. Mitt Romney should start illuminating Obama’s lawless actions while in office, instead of pussy-footing around with second-string defense, unless Romney is just trying to lose!

The Great Spirit of the World

Wyandot Indian chief, William Walker (1800-1874), met the Indians at the home of Territorial Governor William Clark, of the Lewis and Clark Expedition (1805-1806). His account was printed, March 1, 1833, in the “Christian Advocate & Journal and Zion’s Herald of New York,” a Methodist Episcopal publication which at the time had the largest circulation of any periodical in the world. The publishing of William Walker’s account inspired Dr. Marcus Whitman to leave Massachusetts and became a missionary to the Indians of Oregon and Washington. His statue now resides in Statuary Hall of the U.S. Capitol.
