Republicans Agree with Gov. Jindal: Change is Needed

At the South Dakota GOP Convention Friday night, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal spoke eloquently about the need for a change in leadership so that taxes can be curbed and the federal government can be reined in. We all know that he was speaking about national politics, but to many at the convention, he was also addressing the state of affairs in South Dakota.

SCOTUS Illegal Immigration Ruling: South Dakota Enforcement Not Affected

South Dakota Attorney General Marty J. Jackley announced today that the United States Supreme Court’s ruling striking provisions of the Arizona Immigration Law does not affect existing South Dakota law or enforcement efforts. “While a state should be able to extend its enforcement efforts when federal authorities fail to respond, the Supreme Court has fortunately rejected the federal government’s dangerous position ‘that the power to regulate immigration is vested exclusively in the federal government’,” stated Attorney General Jackley.

Obama DREAMS He is Above the Law

Obama DREAMS He is Above the Law

In his latest expansion of his own power, on June 15 Barack Obama issued an executive action essentially and summarily granting legal status to perhaps 800,000 illegal immigrants. Whether one agrees with the DREAM Act — which would have done essentially the same thing — or not, everyone should agree it was up to Congress to pass it, or not, at its discretion. Does Obama think he is above the law?

I’m Sick of the Gary & Sara Harvey Case — Time to Move On

Gary Harvey is the brain injured man from New York, who seems to have his own private “death panel” determined to kill him off and to make his and his wife’s life as miserable as possible, until the sentence is carried out. Though it wasn’t Sara sitting on the so-called ethics committee that determined Gary should be starved and dehydrated to death, the Guardian and County (who actually were involved in the attempted death of an innocent person) have suggested she is a danger to her husband. This has been going on for several years now, and it’s time to move on. It’s time to stop making Sara pay for being a wife fighting for her husband.

What Else Would You Expect From An Anti Semitic U.S. President?

What Else Would You Expect From An Anti Semitic U.S. President?

The Obama administration over the last 3 ½ years have clearly revealed to all who and what they are all about. Anything which stands for our founding Father’s vision for America Obama and his Marxist cronies have opposed lock stock and barrel. So when I saw that a U.S. president called to congratulate the new anti Semitic president of radical Islam’s Islamic Brotherhood I was not surprised, for it is par for the course with President Obama.

That Which is Impossible to Ignore

The election results from 2008 represented the second exception to the rule, the first being Clinton’s innocent boy hoodwinking of the voting public. In both cases, Clinton and now Obama, the road to the Oval Office traveled through and was filtered by our main stream media (MSM). Given these two exceptions, stemming largely from public emotion rather than logic, our MSM has forever turned the corner into large disbursements of governmental propaganda.

Why the House Must Impeach President Obama

We, the lovers of freedom and the supporters of limited government cannot merely wait the clock out on the Obama presidency. If this slide into tyranny is not stopped, it will continue. If it is not protested, it will be accepted. I know there are not enough Senators to convict but if these blatant attacks upon the checks and balances are not punished, at least by the shame and reproach of an Impeachment Resolution, they are being silently condoned. Speaker Boehner: stand up and lead the House! Don’t just make a speech; present a case.

Are Investment Management Fees Tax Deductible?

Are Investment Management Fees Tax Deductible?

I often get asked, “Are investment management fees tax deductible?” The answer is not a simple “yes” or “no.” Like many tax questions, the answer is “It depends.” You only receive a tax deduction for the amount that exceeds 2% of your adjusted gross income (AGI) from line 38 of your Form 1040. If your cumulative expenses are under 2% of AGI, you will not get a deduction. For most of our working clients, their miscellaneous deductions fall far short of the 2% AGI threshold. But when clients retire, they are much more likely to qualify.

Gen. Douglas MacArthur addressing an audience of 50,000 at Soldier's Field, Chicago, Apr. 25, 1951

A Progressive Deterioration Leading to Ultimate National Disaster

The Korean War started JUNE 25, 1950. Communist North Korea invaded South Korea, killing thousands. General Douglas MacArthur was given command of the U.N. Forces and after a daring landing of troops at Inchon, MacArthur recaptured the city of Seoul. General Douglas MacArthur led the United Nations Command in the Korean War from 1950 to 1951. Political involvement prolonged the war, resulting in high casualties.

With ‘Republicans’ Like These, Who Needs Democrats?

With ‘Republicans’ Like These, Who Needs Democrats?

The flyer you see here made a splash at the South Dakota GOP convention in Sioux Falls this weekend. I hear some members of our “Republican” House leadership were claiming Rep. Stace Nelson was the author of the piece which points out the liberal bent of “Republican” House leadership in South Dakota. Of course, if many of the “Republicans” in South Dakota would spend more time reading the latest in conservative thought instead of being wrapped up in worry that the liberals think they’re hip and trendy, then they might have known where it really came from.
