As the controversy over President Obama’s birth control mandate continues to rage at the national level, lawmakers in Connecticut are making news with their recent determination that elective abortion is an “essential health benefit” and must therefore be covered under all insurance plans developed according to the new guidelines established by Obamacare.

Remembering the the Rosenberg Treason
Today, June 19, marks the 59th anniversary of the execution of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg for committing treason. For those who may not recall, specifically, the Rosenbergs were found guilty of engaging in espionage, and divulging the nation’s nuclear secrets to the Soviet Union. Their decision and that of other traitors still endangers not just American lives — but now the lives of every single person on this planet. The genie’s out of the bottle on nuclear proliferation.

In this continuing series which examines a number of “controversial” issues in light of Republican values, American values, and Christian values, we now turn to the subject of open government. Previously we have examined illegal immigration, limited government, and marriage and family. The term “open government” typically describes a doctrine that says citizens have a right to know what their government is doing, for the purpose of oversight of those activities.

Last March’s oral arguments before the Supreme Court over Obamacare caught liberals off guard. Up until that point liberals had assumed that there was little chance of Obamacare being overturned. For the sake of liberty—and if there are ever to be any constraints on federal power—Obamacare must be overturned. But if people are harmed by the overturning of Obamacare, Obama will have no right to decry the injustice of it.

The United Nations Rio Conference is a non-topic with most of the main stream media, but patriots are watching and blogging, and hoping for another failed UN event. It is interesting to note how the UN focus seems to be more firmly rooted in new ways to fund itself rather than on its vaunted commitment to saving the earth. But Mother Earth, or Gaia, or Mother Nature and her wrath is still the underlying force in the UN’s never ending quest for your money.

As the lines between right and wrong grow more and more blurry from “mainstream” media propaganda and wolves-in-sheep’s-clothing among those who should know better, sometimes we have to take the time to examine where our values come from and what they really mean. As we have already done with the issues of illegal immigration and limited government, let us now examine marriage and family values to determine if they meet the criteria of Republican values, American values, and Christian values.

Members of the radical homosexual Left are now more brazen than ever, and those of us on the Christian, conservative Right find ourselves playing desperate defense, deep in our red zone—and it’s no game; it’s deadly serious. One chilling and outrageous development came to us a couple of weeks ago. Hold on tight to your lunch; this story is puke-worthy.

The English Puritans who came here in the 1630s knew that the Old Testament has a great deal to say about civil government. And they came to build that shining city on a hill. They did not come here to escape from the World, to wait for the end of the World, and to surrender it to evil. And so - we became a shining city on a hill. The fundamental act of our Founding, the Declaration of Independence, recognizes the Creator God as the Source of Rights;1 and acknowledges that the purpose of civil government is simply to “secure” the Rights God gave us. The Constitution we subsequently ratified was based on God’s model of civil government as set forth in the Bible.

How many of us overlooked the one department within our Federal Government which is fantastically successful, if viewed through the eyes of government? Out of all the misfit or unconstitutional bureaucracies which the American taxpayer pays handsomely for, the product which our Department of Education churns out-ignorance-has already caused devastating effects upon our American landscape.

I know many who wonder,”Are these the ‘End Times’?” Is the world about to come to an end? Is evil triumphing everywhere? We have a long way to go before we see the particular “Man of Lawlessness” as prophesied by Saint Paul. But we are certainly in a “Time of Lawlessness” at the very highest levels in the freest and most noble country on earth. Mind you, this is the example being set by our very own President.
