Gant (605) 773-3537 Today, Secretary of State Jason Gant announced that the petitions submitted for an initiated measure to increase South Dakota sales tax has passed the petition certification process, and will be placed on the November 2012 general election ballot. The measure, described in its title as “an initiated measure to increase state general sales and use taxes for additional K-12 public education and Medicaid funding,” will now appear on the 2012 ballot as Initiated Measure 15. “From our 5% sample of 1,763 signatures, we validated 1,434 out of the 35,251 officially submitted, and invalidated 329 for various reasons including lack of voter registration, improperly filling out the petitions, legibility, and notary public errors. Senator Thune Endorses RINO Romney
This is extremely disappointing. I like Senator John Thune (R-SD) personally, as well as a number of people on his staff. Most of his votes have been good for South Dakota and the rest of the United States. Most of his votes have accurately reflected true Republican values. So why does he continually support RINOs? He supported RINO John McCain in 2008, which guaranteed a loss to the Democrats, and now he’s endorsed Mitt “RomneyCare” Romney, which would guarantee another Democrat victory in 2012. As if we needed any more reasons to oppose the proposed Ground Zero victory mosque—and mosque building in America, in general—well we have one anyway. I was contacted by a member of the Traditional Values Coalition after my “Hijacking the Memory of 9-11” radio blog aired and was published last Thursday. She sent me a column by Andrea Lafferty who reported on a speech given by Feisal Rauf, who is heading up the proposed Ground Zero victory mosque.
