There are fundamental differences between these two political philosophies. Although most people do not fall neatly into stereotypical behaviors, this good-vs.-evil framework does provide a starting point to better understand motivations. Sometimes the two philosophies will never agree since there is no room for negotiation or mutual benefit. The question is where are you on this spectrum and which Point of View best describes yourself?

Liberals are trapped in Bizarro-land
Our liberal progressive brethren inhabit a parallel universe where they see and hear things that do not exist and are unable to see and hear reality like the rest of us do. Their political thinking is trapped in an alternative reality where they believe their superior intellect allows them to understand others’ motives and actions better than they themselves. Liberals and conservatives are fundamentally different: liberals live in a world of relativity, while conservatives live in a world of absolutes.

I am already getting a sinking feeling about the 2014/2016 elections as Republicans haggle over who and what they stand for. If Republicans can’t define themselves as the Party of Growth and Prosperity to contrast to Obama’s disastrous record and to offer a rescue back to Constitutional sanity, Republicans will again stay home and the elections are already lost! The key void that Republicans must fill is to create a positive marketing narrative that will carry the party through the next elections.

There is no doubt that our great nation’s formation reflected the cultural norms of the late eighteenth century with its sexual and race based biases. These cultural inequities were addressed after years of debate, a bloody civil war, and the passage of a number of Constitutional Amendments. Regulations were implemented to enforce these laws and affirmative action was created as a temporary measure to accelerate the change. But the question now is how long is “temporary” and when will the need for affirmative action ever end? Now fifty years later, maybe it’s about time to declare victory in this War on Inequality.

Thomas Jefferson said “Freedom is lost gradually from an uninterested, uninformed, and uninvolved people.” Voting is considered optional and requires a conscious effort to register and actually vote in a given election. Meanwhile, voters are many times apathetic and misinformed on the issues and vote accordingly. When half of the voters cast their ballots in hope of electing someone who will give them more goodies from the treasury, this country may have entered a death spiral. How can we break out of that?

Republicans must begin now to educate the low information voters on the better alternative of freedom and prosperity. There is no doubt that economic collapse is coming, so no doubt that America will face a burning platform of its own and a choice whether to continue the transformation to socialism or begin the painful journey to dismantle the socialist damage done over the last 100 years.

Republicans and conservatives in particular, base their beliefs on the strict interpretation of the Constitution with limited government, free market capitalism and a strong defense. Unfortunately the policies and legislation created by the GOP does not align with the originalist rhetoric. Republicans have found out that it is easier to “talk the talk” than actually “walk the walk.” Consequently Republicans have been accused of becoming Democrat-lite with one-off proposals. If conservatives want to differentiate themselves from liberals, then they must create big, bold ideas for change that align clearly with the underlying conservative principles.

Republicans suffer from many problems, as their most recent election “autopsy” reported, but the biggest problem is they let the Democrats define them in the public’s mind. First, Republicans must rebrand themselves as the party of growth and prosperity. Second, they must learn to treat Americans as a continuum of people progressing in their quest to achieve the American Dream. Third, Republicans must define themselves as the party of the middle class, as they serve the changing wants and needs of all American as they strive for success and prosperity. There must be a clear vision and strategy.

The President of the United States is elected as America’s leader and represents the nation to other countries abroad. The specific roles and responsibilities of the President are clearly laid out in Article II of the U.S. Constitution. The office of President has a great deal of legitimate power and associated respect. Respect is a deference to a right, privilege, privileged position, or someone or something considered to have certain rights or privileges; proper acceptance or courtesy. The incumbent can be judged separately and critically based on their individual performance against the expectations of the office.

Republicans have lost their way in the political arena, out-marketed by Democrats who better understand what sells to the American voter. Conservatives must wrest control of the Republican Party if they want to win any future election. Republicans also can no longer afford to allow leftists to set the media narrative based on distorted stereotypes and gross distortions. There are a number of things that must begin now for Republicans to return as a viable national party.
