On December 14, 2015, I helped a senior citizen who was threatened with a collection lawsuit. She wanted to know why Medicare and her Medicare supplement insurance policy did not pay any claims on her medical bill.

Many people believe that government can solve all our problems. I challenge that idea. In my experience, the people in government who write regulations and proposed laws are unable to think of every situation. That causes problems for us “common folk”.

Everyone knew that it was just a matter of time, but no one expected it to fail this fast. Yet, that is exactly what is happening, as bad news story after bad news story about the state of ObamaCare arrives on a seemingly weekly basis.

On November 11, 2015, I wrote a letter to a clinic about a bill for one of our senior citizen clients from Highland, Indiana. With some editing to protect the privacy of the client, here is most of that letter.

Suppose you invite me to your house for dinner and while I’m there I notice that your window treatments are shabby and that your furniture does not match your wall colors. So, the next day, while you’re not at home, I break into your house and change the windows and the walls.

Several times recently, I noticed federal government sponsored radio or TV ads telling people that now is the “open enrollment period” when you can review your Medicare policy coverage. That is sloppy, irresponsible advertising.

On Friday, October 16, 2015, my friend Delano Scaife observed me for five hours as an assignment from his college professor. Delano works for the Lake County (Indiana) sheriff’s office. He was wounded and takes a college class while he recovers.

A new client made a mistake before she came to our insurance agency. The mistake started costing her money – two insurance premiums every month.

On September 21, 2015, I worked on a medical bill problem for a client from Valparaiso, Indiana. She sent me a copy of a bill and asked me if she should pay the bill. She bought a very good Medicare supplement insurance policy through our insurance agency. I investigated why she was getting a bill and learned that she should not be getting a bill.
