I wrote recently about some of the heat Rep. Kathy Hochul (D-NY) took at a town hall meeting from Catholics upset about the assault on religious freedom being perpetrated by her party in the vehicle of ObamaCare and its contraceptive and abortifacient mandates. It seems there was more fun at that town hall meeting. This video shows “we the people” running rings around her Leftist, anti-freedom excuses.

Illegal Immigration as a Moral Issue
Those who publicly identify with Christ while simultaneously making excuses for the invasion of our country by illegal aliens desperately need to listen to this week’s broadcast/podcast of Stand to Reason. The question arose of balancing “humanitarian” considerations with the illegality of illegal immigration. When we start out from a morally and logically flawed position, we will reach morally and logically flawed conclusions.

Some interesting developments are afoot in the 2012 presidential election…and the Left probably doesn’t like most of them-and those they do like, the probably aren’t happy that anyone noticed. It was no surprise to hear Barack Obama reach out to liberal black churches to support his campaign (though his call fro “congregation captains” was remarkable). But Newt Gingrich recently spoke from the pulpit of a Georgia church, and openly condemned Obama’s anti-freedom and anti-Christian policies. Freedom is beginning to ring again in America’s churches.

The controversy over President Obama’s HHS Mandate is now pouring out onto the streets. On March 23, concerned citizens in over 50 cities — including Washington D.C., New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, and San Francisco — will gather at federal buildings for a rally with the theme, “Stand Up for Religious Freedom — Stop the HHS Mandate!”

Watching the science fiction film from 1936 entitled, “Transatlantic Tunnel” left me with a sense of wonder. I wondered if such a project were possible. And I wondered if it would be worth the cost. Our national debt is over 15 times that — $15 trillion! Right now, we are already trying to pay down a bill equivalent to more than 14 transatlantic tunnels!

In a day when Presidents and Supreme Court Justices are ignoring the Constitution and the very oath they took to defend it, I believe we are on the verge of losing our identity as Americans. When our government officials turn to foreign law for their guidance, we the people of the United States, who place these individuals into office to protect us and our laws, will be subrogated to the whim of foreign jurists, who may not even share our same democratic form of government. By advocating her preference for foreign law over ours, Madam Justice Ginsburg has violated her oath and betrayed her country.

Nearly everyone is an excellent candidate for executing a Roth conversion this year. At the end of 2012, tax rates are going up across the board. With political gridlock and a debt-strapped national government, tax rates are unlikely to be this low again in the near future. Because you can always undo part or all of a conversion with a Roth recharacterization, you can’t convert too much. But it is helpful to have a target amount in mind before you begin.

If America as we have known her is to survive, we must elect a Congress with enough courage and enough votes to do what must be done. The Congress we have now is passive in the face of serial provocations and outright illegality. They will not call Mr. Obama to account on anything so he feels free to do everything. If he wins again we all lose unless we replace those who merely go along to get along with those who are willing to speak the forbidden word…Impeach!

Columnist Leonard Pitts of the Miami Herald had an article in a recent issue in that newspaper in a town near Harrisburg. He thinks of himself as a progressive. If that is another word for liberal I’ll have to buy it. That is why I don’t read his stuff to often. However a recent column of his caught my attention, “Marines’ ignorance is alarming.” It reminded me of something-Not knowing the past, you are bound to repeat it.

“Listen my children and you shall hear of the midnight ride of Paul Revere…Hang a lantern aloft in the belfry arch…One if by land, two if by sea…” These lines are from the poem, Paul Revere’s Ride by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, born FEBRUARY 27, 1807. An American poet and Harvard Professor, Longfellow wrote such American classics as: The Song of Hiawatha; The Courtship of Miles Standish and Evangeline.
