Big News: A RINO Endorses a RINO
I see that the RINO world is all a-twitter that Mike Huckabee has endorsed RINO Mike Rounds for U.S. Senate. Wow, that’s big news: a RINO endorses a RINO. Might as well run with the headline: Democrat Endorses Fellow Democrat. Oh, I know Mike Huckabee has been busy the past five years or so, desperately trying to revise history and rehabilitate his liberal record. But some of us know the truth, despite all his conservative-sounding talk.

There is really no opposition party in Washington, D.C., raising the question of why, exactly, voters should even put Republicans into the majority? So that Fred Upton can have a nicer office? If the Republican Party does not stand for anything, then there is no reason for it to be in power except for personal power and perks.

Thinking back to those 2012 Republican primary days, I can remember questioning just how we arrived with this slate of candidates? Who or what did the selections? Given the dreadful November results, which one must assume hinged greatly upon our final champion, I am now more aware, curious and if possible, protective of this protracted process. And today, the solemnity of my morning coffee was shattered by what appears to be the opening salvo of the 2016 contest.

It is theorized that we “shot our load” when Tea Party candidates dominated the 2010 midterm elections. To that I ask a quizzical “really, how so?” Our detractors all point back towards last November as proof positive of Tea Party shortcomings. Well, not so fast bucko. Players emerged from their comfy shadows and in doing so, have realigned the coming 2014 contest.

Back in the Dream Time, when my mind was still locked in the glow of Ronald Reagan and all his example and message meant to America even then I wondered, “What’s wrong with these leaders of ours? Why do the Democrats always seem to outsmart them at every turn?” Are Democrats smarter than Republicans…or are Republicans too busy swilling at the public trough to fight like they want to win?

According to this year’s report: “The United States, long considered the standard bearer for economic freedom among large industrial nations, has experienced a substantial decline in economic freedom during the past decade. Why does this matter? There is a direct correlation between how a nation ranks in economic freedom and its per capita GDP… More economic freedom means more prosperity and a higher quality of life.

Barack Obama’s rabid supporters have finally gone the extra mile. During his first presidential campaign they merely treated him as if he was their messiah. After his second victory they are shouting it from the roof tops. At the BET Soul Train Awards show Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx actually called Barack Obama “our lord and savior.” From the reaction of the crowd, it was received like a proclamation from Mount Sinai. The wild cheering brought down the house. If this isn’t a cult of personality what is?

The dichotomy between the scenes of people lined up to buy a one in 171 million chance at being wealthy beyond their imaginations, and an electorate that voted for a President who is desperate to confiscate the income of those they consider to be rich through higher taxes is almost impossible to reconcile. But Republicans would do well to remember whether they campaigned (and won) on a platform of raising taxes…or keeping them lower.
