Attorney General Marty Jackley announced today that Governor Dennis Daugaard has signed SB 42 into law limiting defendants to one application for habeas relief collaterally attacking a defendant’s conviction, sentence and direct appeal. The application must be filed within a two-year statute of limitations period from the finalization of the direct appeal.

The South Dakota Department of Health has released new income guidelines for the WIC Program. WIC is a special supplemental nutrition program, funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, provided at no cost to eligible moms, babies and children.  Its goal is to help improve health by providing nutritious foods to supplement diets, offering education on healthy eating, nutrition and breastfeeding, and making referrals to other services.

The Daily Caller reports that despite previous assurances to the contrary, there will be abortion coverage in ObamaCare.  The cost of a life has now been reduced to a dollar. It’ll cost a dollar to buy the privilege to kill your own child. When will we ever learn that when we dance with the Devil by the pale moon light, we always get burned.

The Illinois Policy Institute has put together a report on the health care exchanges pushed by ObamaCare.  It examines some of the myths surrounding ObamaCare health care exchanges, and then looks at the facts. These are some of the same myths South Dakota officials and legislators have bought into when they sold down the river the freedom of those they were elected to represent, instead of fighting the unconstitutional tyranny of ObamaCare.

Thomas Jefferson believed that “the chief purpose of government is to protect life.  Abandon that and you have abandoned all.”  Frozen embryos aren’t mere surplus property to be discarded, but nascent human beings who should be protected released from their state of “suspended animation” and allowed to reach their full potential.  Unfortunately, Mr. Obama does not share Mr. Jefferson’s views on this matter.

It is correct when viewing this election in terms of America’s continuation as a free and independent country or as one that will become enslaved as is the European’s lot.  The path on which our society has traveled in the last fifty years is not accidental. Neither are the intentions from a nucleus of socialist minded Americans who sadly have attained leadership positions. America needs the guidance of a traditional leader and Rick Santorum wears that white hat proudly.

South Dakota Secretary of State Jason Gant reminded people interested in running for office today that petitions for political party candidates are due by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27th. “As of 5 p.m. Monday, we’ve had 21 candidates for State Senate, 49 candidates for State House, and 320 candidates for various county offices turn in petitions,” said Gant.

As usual, the only hope the Left has for winning an election lies in how many shallow, uninformed, unthinking people they can scare into believing the Republicans (the party that fought to free slaves, fought the Democrats to bring full rights to freed slaves, has fought to bring freedom to the world, and has fought the Democrats to preserve the freedom of the American people from Marxism within and without) want to oppress everyone. The latest in that faux saga is the so-called “War on Women.”

Susan B. Anthony, whose face is on a U.S. dollar coin, a 3-cent stamp and whose statue is in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda, died MARCH 13, 1906. Susan B. Anthony’s religious upbringing instilled in her the concept that every one is equal before God and motivated her to crusade for freedom for slaves and a woman’s right to vote. Opposing liquor, drunkenness and abortion, Susan encountered mobs, armed threats, objects thrown at her and was hung in effigy.
