More Bills Pass Governor’s Desk

South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard signed several more bills into law today, including: agricultural appropriations, National Guard appropriations, controlled substance legislation, a Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day holiday, tax refunds, tobacco settlement revenues, psychotropic medication for jailed prisoners, a fee increase for certain property tax deeds, and more.

Today’s state-run media gives us knowledge of what is going on in America and around the world… or does it? Although the media has a damaging 21 percent approval rating according to a recent Gallup poll (I am surprised it is that high), it still seems as though the locomotive of socialism runs full steam ahead, because, for the most part, the American people do not know we are a Constitutional Republic, not a democracy.

General Welfare versus Common Welfare

The “General Welfare” clause in the US Constitution has become the most misunderstood and abused concept of federalism and liberty in the history of our country. Clearly when the Founding Fathers were talking about providing for the General Welfare they were talking about providing the STATES in the Union with the ability to enjoy peace and prosperity through the protection from destructive forces that might put our nation in peril.
