The South Dakota Health Care Compact bill is to be in the Health and Human Services Committee on Tuesday. Put simply, a health care compact is, as the Health Care Compact website states “an interstate compact – which is simply an agreement between two or more states that is consented to by Congress – that restores authority and responsibility for health care regulation to the member states (except for military health care, which will remain federal), and provides the funds to the states to fulfill that responsibility.”

Tuesday, February 7th, HB 1174 will be heard in the House Health and Human Services Committee that states “The Department of Social Services shall screen and test any adult recipient who is otherwise eligible for temporary assistance for needy families cash benefits or for supplemental nutrition assistance program cash benefits and who, the department has reasonable cause to believe, engages in the illegal use of controlled substances.” The concept is quite clear.  Do you want your tax dollars paying for illegal, recreational drugs for other people?

Who has supported cap and trade global warming taxes, government bailouts, amnesty for illegal aliens, and government control of health care? Take a look and see. the answer might surprise you (they should have included Mitt “RomneyCare” Romney in this deck of cards, too).

His name was Ronald Reagan, born FEBRUARY 6, 1911, and died June 5, 2004. At the Alfred M. Landon Lecture Series, 1982, Ronald Reagan stated: “We can’t have it both ways. We can’t expect God to protect us in a crisis and just leave Him over there on the shelf in our day-to-day living. “I wonder if sometimes He isn’t waiting for us to wake up, He isn’t maybe running out of patience.”

Eighty or so legislators have decided that South Dakota needs a new flag. Ours has been determined the fifth worst in the U.S. by the Vexillogical Association. However, the proposed flag design, and even the idea of changing the current design, causes a vexation to me and a lot of other South Dakotans. Who should know best as to our state flag-some out-of-state vexillogists or the people of South Dakota? Here is where that old bromide fits: If it ain’t broke, why fix it?

The Heritage Foundation has released its 2012 Index of Economic Freedom. Since 1994, the Heritage Foundation Index of Economic Freedom has used a systematic empirical measurement of economic freedom to evaluate countries worldwide. The index clearly shows that economic freedom and higher rates of long-term economic growth go together. Investors can use the study to select countries for their foreign stock allocation.

Our adversaries believe they have stacked the deck by taking control of both major political parties which operate as two wings on the same bird of prey. They hope by nominating a progressive in both parties there will be no way for the forces of freedom to prevail. We are, “We the People” and if we will but turn and acknowledge the one who has given us everything, we have a chance.
