The basic pro-abortion argument being advanced is that a human being is only fully human when they possess the intellectual faculties necessary to appreciate the fact of their own existence and to desire their continued existence. Since a baby lacks this kind of self-awareness, so the argument goes, it’s not really a human being yet and thus has no more rights than it did when it was a fetus in utero. Ted Cruz has a bit of an image problem while Rand Paul has a bit of a message problem. Cruz is more consistent but obviously more maligned. Both men are highly intelligent.
