Fox Business has a disturbing article about the State Integrity Investigation report from the Center for Public Integrity. The report card is based on a variety of criteria including public access to information, political financing, accountability, budget processes, procurement, auditing, disclosure, redistricting, insurance commissions, and such. My state, South Dakota, came in the second worst of the 50 states.

This is another mailer that recently went out in the Rapid City mayoral contest between incumbent Mayor Sam Kooiker and challenger Mark Kirkeby, a South Dakota State Senator from District 35. This card highlights Kirkeby’s poor record on open government. Kirkeby’s RINO “supreme being” master and his minions may like keeping the taxpayers and voters in the dark, but the voters and taxpayers usually don’t care much for that.

When it comes to open government, some rubes just don’t get it

The state open meetings commission recently ruled that the Sioux Falls City Council violated South Dakota’s open meeting law by the way it fired the city clerk. After an executive session the council violated the law in trying to take official action without referring to the subject matter of the official action. This city council isn’t the first to be jolted by the commission. Others have rightfully felt the commission’s sting as well.
