America just celebrated an extended weekend for Memorial Day, saying thank you to those who sacrificed their all for the freedoms Americans now walk in. What makes America strong is the fact that we are “one nation under God.” How can anyone overlook this when we see God by His Spirit, through man, unify us through unhappy and oftentimes painful circumstances?

Today is Memorial Day, the day set aside in America to recognize the ultimate sacrifice given by the men and women of our armed forces in defense of our country. On this Memorial Day, think of all those who have given their lives in defense of our country. Remember, too, all those who are serving stateside and overseas today–they have pledged to put their lives in harm’s way on our behalf. And don’t forget to ask God to bless the USA–over and above what we deserve.

Did you remember that one day this week?

Every day of our lives–except one–we are preparing for the future. Whether we are making our monthly house payments or going to the grocery store, we are looking forward to all of our tomorrows. But that one day, last Monday, we paused in our preparations for the future to reflect on the past, especially to remember those who have gone before us–and especially those who have given their lives, their futures so we can have our tomorrows.
