Eternal vigilance by the people is the price of liberty. — President Andrew Jackson, Farewell Speech, March 4, 1837

American Clarion Week in Review, Ending May 19, 2012

May 20, 2012   ·   By   ·   0 Comments

These were the top articles at American Clarion last week. If you missed one the first time around, this is your chance to get caught up on the latest events and insights before the new week gets under way.

High-mileage vehicles not allowed in US (Dr. Theo) – The video explains the difference in passenger car mileage between European countries and the US. I had heard from friends that travel regularly in Europe that European cars typically get higher mileage than comparable US automobiles, but I had no idea how much or why. I figured it probably had to do with government regulations and air quality demands. It’s much worse than that.

When the Information was Wrong: The Inaccurate Public Conviction of George Zimmerman (Carrie K. Hutchens) – While we can’t take back how things played out with the Trayvon Martin and George Zimmerman encounter or anything that led up to those final moments of life-death changing events, we do have a responsibility of calling the media, our president, Al Sharpton, Jessie Jackson, Black Panthers and a few others to account for their irresponsible responses, reporting and race baiting behavior thereafter. Turns out that, Zimmerman, the “white Hispanic”, is not only nearly as Black in heritage as our president, if not completely so — he was raised under the influence of a half-black grandmother, rather than, a white grandma as Obama was.

Recovering God’s Stolen Rainbow (Gina Miller) – The celebration clamoring of the radical homosexual Left has reached an ecstatic, fever pitch since last Wednesday when Barack Obama (or whatever his name is) made history with his shameful pronouncement that he believes people of the same sex should be able to get “married.” Never mind that a marriage union between people of the same sex is impossible in every way. Just the fact that he made this wicked declaration should be enough to make even the most strident Obama supporter say, “Huh?”

South Dakota Gun Mailer IDs Soft Second Amendment Stance (Bob Ellis) – South Dakota Gun Owners recently sent out a mailer about the weak responses of South Dakota Dist. 35 House candidate Jack Siebold. It reveals some things that had already started to become evident about the “Republican” candidate from statements on his website and in a recent candidate evaluation.

Water Threats from the Communist Enemies of Freedom (Gina Miller) – What better way to control citizens of a country than to control the water supply? What better way to control the countries of the world than to control the seas? We have two stories in our face this week that are seemingly unrelated, yet at the same time, they both represent the anti-American, anti-freedom, dictatorial advancement of tyranny. A nation’s water supply is one thing, and the seas and oceans of the world are another.

Dennis Miller on Gender Neutral Restrooms (Bob Ellis) – I love Dennis Miller. He isn’t as conservative as I’d like, but we see eye to eye on most of the important stuff. His appearance on Bill O’Reilly’s show was pretty good, until he got to the discussion of the nutty idea of gender-neutral bathrooms, then it became hilarious. I normally try to steer clear of scatological humor, but if we’re going to go down this asinine path as a society (as it seems the homosexual activists and their “useful idiots” seem intent on taking us), then there are some serious (though funny at times) issues we really need to consider.

ABC’s Christian-Bashing Show Canceled (Newswire) – For family and child advocate Dr. Ted Baehr, founder and publisher of Movieguide®: The Family Guide to Movies and Entertainment, ABC/Disney’s cancellation of its “bigoted” show “GCB,” which mocked and ridiculed Christians, was a “victory for faith and values.” “GCB” was based on the novel “Good Christian B*tches” by Kim Gatlin.

Politics As Usual? (Michael Day) – The United States of America can’t do much worse than Obama. That said, whether you vote Democrat or Republican, you are voting for politics as usual. What we’ve been getting for a long, long time is lip service, empty words, just plain lies; thinking we can save the whole world, spending irresponsibly beyond our means; no accountability to ethics, the law or the Constitution; government intrusion into every aspect of our private lives… politics as usual. Politics as usual will be the death of America.

Planned Parenthood & the Hitler Conspiracy (Carrie K. Hutchens) – Don’t kid yourself. A conspiracy is at hand. We didn’t just happen to get “Hitler” or “Planned Parenthood” or “Death Panels” or “Dying With Dignity movements” under our pillows one night, such as the coins from the Tooth Fairy. All have been carefully planned and the campaign carried out amazingly well.

Will Smith Smacks Reporter Who Smacked Him on Lips (Bob Ellis) – I like Will Smith. He’s one of my favorite actors. I’ve never had any use for rap, but from what I understand, his rap was pretty clean when he was doing that prior to becoming an actor. I’ve enjoyed him in such movies as Independence Day, Men in Black, Enemy of the State, I, Robot, Hitch, and I Am Legend. But probably the biggest laugh he’s ever given me came yesterday when Smith was in Moscow and a male Ukranian reporter kissed him on the lips.

Thanks go out to the writers for putting their hard work into these articles, and to the readers who vaunted them to the top.

Resisting the Tide of Secularism

Ken Connor

Forces antagonistic to religion dominate our courtrooms, our classrooms, and that most potent platform of public influence, the entertainment industry. Stridently ideological and convinced that the forces of reason and progress are on their side, these secular shapers of culture will not be satisfied until every last vestige of religious influence is exorcised from the public square. These individuals reject the fact that the Christian religion played an integral role in the shaping of America's political traditions and the spirit of liberty and equality that is unique among nations.

The Multi-Agency Attack on Conservatives

As Sherlock Holmes and Mr. Spock were always fond of noting, when attempting to unravel a whodunit, a useful postulate is: “When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.” Point in case is the targeting by multiple government departments and agencies at the federal and state level, by elected officials, and by Democrat Party organizations of Catherine Engelbrecht, founder of True the Vote, a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring honest elections and ballot integrity by targeting voter fraud.

Ryan-Rubio ‘Conservative’ Amnesty Ads Insult our Intelligence

Gina Miller

We have not forgotten the 2007 McCain-Kennedy amnesty bill that was killed in the face of intense outrage from the American people. This administration has engaged in criminal conduct by granting amnesty through presidential edict to certain illegal aliens. If we were outraged back in 2007 at the McCain-Kennedy amnesty bill, we are now outraged to the hundredth power at the latest attempt by Congress to shove amnesty for illegal aliens down our throats.

"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party over to the traitors in the battle just ended. We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support. Turning the party over to the so-called moderates wouldn't make any sense at all." - Ronald Reagan, Nov. 10, 1964
