High-mileage vehicles not allowed in US

VW Passat TDI, not available in the US

The video explains the difference in passenger car mileage between European countries and the US.  I had heard from friends that travel regularly in Europe that European cars typically get higher mileage than comparable US automobiles, but I had no idea how much or why.  I figured it probably had to do with government regulations and air quality demands.  It’s much worse than that.

Here is a screen capture form the Volkswagon UK site that gives information on the Passat TDI fuel consumption:

In case you have difficulty reading it, the 1.6L Diesel gets 65.7 miles per gallon, combined, and 78 mpg highway! Most of these models are made in US factories, but cannot be sold here. Additionally, there is a Ford Focus, also made here, that gets similar astounding mileage that is likewise prohibited from being sold in the US. This is maddening. What is it going to take to bring this bloated government behemoth to heel?

I drove a VW Jetta TDI for several years and got an honest 50 mpg, combined. The Passat is a larger, more luxurious version of the Jetta. The TDI (Diesel) Passat will likely be my next automobile. I wish it could be a European BlueMotion TDI.

Sounds so typical of the way our asinine government works. Nobody is supposed to come out ahead…except them, the dividers of the spoils. They must always ensure they have the maximum loot possible available with which to purchase favors and votes.

You’re right Mr. Ellis. The bureaucracy can never make do with less. The people must serve the masters and they, the masters, determine how much they need. We’ve all seen the road crews with two working and four leaning on their shovels, but don’t ever suggest that they could do with less. Maybe we should privatize all services except the military and then we’d get some effciency in government.

Ann Coulter has a column today that helps explain how the bureaucracy has scammed Americans into providing lucraive jobs that provide a very nice paycheck through retirement. It is scams such as this that finance government thievery.

“The real class warfare in this country isn’t rich vs. poor, it’s government employees vs. we, the taxpayers, who pay their salaries.
Working for the government is supposed to be a trade-off: You can’t be fired and don’t have to exert yourself, but you will receive smaller remuneration than in the private sector, where layoffs are common (especially in the Obama economy!). Instead, government jobs are safe, secure, pressure-free — and now, amazingly lucrative!”

Insufferable Are The Black Robes

Jim Bowman

This “broken” immigration system is by design. We can pass all the legislation one desires but if laws are not enforced, they are “broken.” And the design I reference has now become obvious with the “supreme” court’s latest unconstitutional decree which, if nothing else, supports this broken chorus! In a 7-2 anti Arizona immigration decision, these ill behaved black robes have once again turned their back on our law of the land as they assign more legitimacy to foreigners than to our Constitution.

Earth to Gov. Kasich: God is Not a Socialist

Bob Ellis

Don't you just love it when liberals (selectively) thump the Bible to browbeat good people into going along with things the Bible clearly doesn't say or condone? Ohio Governor John Kasich is now trying to scam people into believing God is a socialist and He wants Kasich to take your property and give it to other people. Last time I checked, neither the Bible nor the U.S. Constitution gave authority for that.

GOP Support for Amnesty Bill Drying Up

Bob Ellis

GOP support for the amnesty bill is drying up like a wad of spit on the sand along the southern border of the United States. Interestingly, Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), who was backed by the Tea Party when he was elected, has not only pushed this turd of an amnesty bill with the worst of them (like Demagogue Senator Chuck Schumer), but voted against securing the border today.

Rush Limbaugh Interview of Senator Ted Cruz

Bob Ellis

In case you missed it, Rush Limbaugh interviewed Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) on his radio show earlier today. There are RINOs, there are Republicans who disappoint and flirt with becoming RINOs...and then there are real Republicans. There is every indication that Ted Cruz is the real deal, and is a reliable Republican. He tells the truth, tells it like it is, and ticks off the "mainstream" media and other liberals something fierce.

The Demagogue Party

Bob Ellis

Do you know what a "demagogue" is? Webster's dictionary defines demagogue as "a leader who makes use of popular prejudices and false claims and promises in order to gain power." Does that describe any politicians you know? Does that describe a particular political party that you've heard of?

"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party over to the traitors in the battle just ended.
