Political Musings for the Week Ending Apr. 28, 2012

Politics - “No one will really understand politics until they understand that politicians are not trying to solve our problems.They are trying to solve their own problems – one of which getting elected and re-elected are number one and number two. Whatever is number three is far behind.” Thomas Sowell.

Politics– This election should be the clearest in memory, since the contrast will be stark between a demonstrated redistribute-the-wealth Marxist and a self-described conservative.

Politics– Since Congress is required to pass a budget each year, why don’t we stop paying our Senators for non-performance until they do their job and pass their 1st budget in 4 years?

Politics – Voter Question: “How did that vote for Obama work out for you? Are you better off today than when Barack Obama was elected? Is he making the economy better or worse?

Politics– An increasing number of Democrats are openly defying the President on the Keystone XL pipeline and ObamaCare, losing support for his two key election issues.

Politics– The “War on Women” strategybackfired as 49% believe Romney respects women with independent careers, while 37% think Obama doesn’t respect stay-at-home moms.

Politics– The Millennial’s, college students who turned out in numbers in 2008,excitement is gone, as their youth enthusiasm has disappeared as reality replaced “Hope and Change.”

Politics– The Barack Obama re-election strategy seems to be campaigning at college campuses and comedy clubs, since those are the only places left where he will be believed.

Politics– The Occupy Wall Street “rent-a-ruckus” anarchist mobs have emerged as Democrat “useful idiots” fanning the flames of class warfare at bank shareholder meetings.

Media– Romney expects the “vast left-wing conspiracy” to campaign against him, including a continuum of liberal national media, left-wing think tanks, academia, and Hollywood.

Media– Gallup found that 55% of Americans have little or no confidence in the national media to report fully, accurately, and fairly and are skeptical about the news they receive.

Media– Newspapers continue to hemorrhage readers with only political ads in the 2012 election to save them, but I expect many newspapers will disappear after the next election.

Politics– I expect that the 2012 Presidential election will be the most racist campaign, with baseless accusations used to distract voter attention from Obama’s record of failure.

Politics– If the Republican Party nominates Mitt Romney as their Presidential candidate, I expect that the TEA Party members bail out of the Party in droves to become Independents.

Equity - “Since this is an era when many people are concerned about ‘fairness’ and ‘social justice,’ what is your ‘fair share’ ofwhat someone else has worked for.” Thomas Sowell.

Regulation– Government regulation interferes and distorts the free market, and thereby raises costs and reduces choices without providing tangible benefits or protections.

Bailouts– The TARP IG reported the most recent cost estimate for TARP is a loss of $60 billion, while taxpayers are still owed 118.5 billion (including $14 billion written off or otherwise lost).

Budget– Democrats have not passed a budget because they have nothing constructive to offer – no entitlement reform, no debt reduction,and no credible energy policies.

Jobs– An AP report found 53.6% of college graduates under the age of 25 are jobless or under-employed, and there is little hope of improvement in the near future.

Jobs– The Obama Green Jobs Initiative has largely been a failure, since most jobs “created”were actually existing government jobs that were re-categorized by Team Obama.

Labor– The biggest unions spent in excess of $100 million on the 2010 elections and 93% was on behalf of Democrats, while more than 40% of voters in union households vote Republican.

Disability– Record number of workers now collect federal disability checks, due to loosened rules, the rise of disability benefits relative to wages, and more women in the workforce.

Taxes– The federal tax code is so complex and voluminous that it spans 73,608 pages, and the instruction book just for the Form 1040 is 189 pages long.

Immigration– A Gallup survey found that there are 150 million adults living in countries around the world who would migrate to theU.S. if they could for freedom and opportunity.

Immigration– Today, 70% of illegal immigrant households collect government benefits, as do 57%of all immigrant households, compared to 39% of native households.

Debt– I expect that the country’s credit rating will again be downgraded after Congress debt ceiling discussions again fail to find sufficient spending cuts to halt deficit spending.

Deficit – I expect one or more states to declare bankruptcy by 2012 and seek assistance to recover from the bad economic decisions of the past under federal judicial protection.

Housing – I expect that it will take four or more years at the current rate for the backlog of foreclosures to finally clear, before we see any signs of life of a robust housing recovery.

History – “Much of the social history of the Western world, over the past three decades, has been a history of replacing what worked with what sounded good.” Thomas Sowell.

GWOT– Islamists have been at War with the U.S. for over 30 years, so prisoners of war should only be released once both sides officially agree that the Global War on Terror is over.

Israel– There is little chance that the Middle East peace talks will start again, since the “Palestinians” refuse to renounce their avowed goal of destroying Israel.

Africa– I expect that Obama will create a “crisis”so he can inject American troops into an African country to demonstrate his “military leadership” in this Presidential election year.

Israel– I expect that Israel will be attacked by Hamas again in 2012 and the IDF will retaliate by invading and then annexing Gaza based on the concept of defensible borders.

Israel – I expect that Israel will suffer a nuclear attack from Islamist extremists by 2012, and Obama will stand aside and not help defend this longtime ally.

Asia – I expect that North Korea will attack South Korea and attempt to reunite Korea by the 2012, and Obama will be an unwitting accomplice as he abandons this ally in a time of war.
