“Something about the way the C.I.A. has been functioning that is casting a shadow over our historic positions, and I feel that we need to correct it.” -President Truman
Does the CIA have truly noble motives? To whom are they accountable? Do they operate not only under the radar but blatantly and arbitrarily above the law? Is that not a recipe for disaster? Whose interests are ultimately served?
Cliff Kincaid writes,
“In a video interview…Hayden ‘explains what the Central Intelligence Agency looks for in a candidate.’ He listed the following characteristics as being attractive in a candidate: a second language, life experience, success, foreign travel and living in a foreign country.
He failed to mention love of country and living a moral lifestyle. “
Call me cynical, but seriously? What moral person would work for the CIA? If lying and deception against the American people, widespread invasions of privacy, and faux justification for war (for global purposes) are truly what they are about, what person with the slightest amount of integrity would sign on for that?
If we’ve been paying attention we understand a little about the folks in charge of these intelligence communities and how they operate. What degree of cognitive dissonance must we achieve to turn a blind eye to their troubling practices? If we have to sell our souls to the devil to keep up with Russia we reap what we sow.
“…the recent CIA leak gives terrorists the ability to evade hacking tools that were used on their methods of communication.”
Terrorists don’t know that their devices are being monitored? This feels like an excuse and further justification to monitor average Americans.
Have we ultimately become an enemy of ourselves?
