Dr. Benjamin Carson on Cavuto: Standing Up to the Bullies

Benjamin_Carson_CavutoDr. Benjamin Carson, a pediatric neurosurgeon with Johns Hopkins Hospital, recently made waves for speaking the truth about the liberal rot that is destroying America from within–and for doing it while standing within a few feet of a listening President Obama.

Carson was on the Neil Cavuto show yesterday to talk about the occasion.

There are a whole, whole LOT of “Republicans” who could learn volumes from this man. Instead of all the hand-wringing, apologies, timidity, excuses, vacillation, appeasement, compromise,

As Dr. Carson said on Cavuto:

somebody has to be courageous enough to actually stand up to, you know, the bullies.

America desperately needs politicians who will, you know, stand up to the liberal bullies who are ignoring the U.S. Constitution, ignoring right and wrong, and who are on the verge if irreparably wounding this great country known as America.

We need Republicans who will find the guts, find the spine, find whatever anatomy is necessary to speak the truth, speak it boldly, and speak it unapologetically. When liberals see uncertainty, compromise and weakness…it’s like blood in the water to a shark. America is in the late stages of decay; we don’t have time to be messing around with “Republicans” who either don’t know what they believe or don’t really believe in anything–only Republicans who have the courage of convictions, who know what they believe and why they believe it, are going to be able to make a difference.

It isn’t like these are new and revolutionary concepts that are hard to grasp. As Dr. Carson pointed out, the principles go at least as far back as the Bible; the founders of our nation simply applied them for the first time in a broad and consistent way to the government of a nation. And the result was the most free, most powerful and most prosperous nation in all of human history.

Conservatives and Republicans (which should be one and the same, if Republicans are upholding their own stated values) should be proud of these principles, and boldly and fearlessly articulate them to a dumbed-down culture (as Dr. Carson said, “An uneducated populace will fall for anything”–and we have, with Barack Obama in the White House as proof), and work relentlessly to re-implement them in our nation so we can restore it to greatness.

Dr. Carson has set the standard and given the example. Republicans: do you have the guts to even TRY to live up to it?

  • I could hardly believe my ears when I heard Dr. Carson speaking at the prayer breakfast (with King Obama an arms length away). It was like the first time I heard Rush Limbaugh back in 1990. I was hearing my own thoughts eloquently spoken aloud. I doubted that there were many others who believed similarly, but soon discovered that I was not alone…by a long shot.

Dr. Carson’s remarks were heartening. I retired from medical practice last year because I knew I would never be able to adapt to the bureaucrat-controlled health care that Obamacare specifies. To hear a young doctor speak the truth in such a way gives me some hope for the future. Perhaps, just perhaps, sanity can be restored and doctors will once again be allowed to practice patient-centered medicine. To do so will first require that politicians and bureaucrats be booted from any significant influence in health care administration, and that includes dismantling Medicare and Medicaid as they exist.

There are solutions to the many problems that exist in health care, most of which were caused or exacerbated by government intervention, perhaps doctors like Dr. Carson will begin to speak up and demand that they be allowed to provide the excellent care that they are trained to deliver.
