Eastwood’s Oscar-Worthy Performance

The Democrats are furious and the Hollyweird folks are indignant calling Clint Eastwood’s performance at the 2012 Republican National Convention a “disgrace,” adding that it was bizarre and disconnected. Star Jones, “Today” contributor, tweeted “I can’t believe I just watched (hash)ClintEastwood turn into somebody’s DRUNK UNCLE HARRY on the stage of the (hash)GOP (hash)RNC. He humiliated himself.” “20 years ago I wanted Clint Eastwood to make my day. Now I just want him to take his pills and b grateful he doesnt need medicare.” according to Nancy Lee Grahn, “General Hospital” actress.

Exactly! I didn’t see it as clearly last night, but watching the video again today it became obvious. Dirty Harry was acting. He was playing a half-senile, doddering old man. He was the old man whose thoughts are a little disheveled as are his clothes and his hair. But he was an old man who has seen much of the world and takes in the news of world events with wisdom and insight that can only come with age and experience. True, he is not as articulate as he once was, but that is more than made up for by his raw honesty. He says what is on his mind without regard to eloquence, but with complete truthfulness.

Haven’t we all known an old fellow who was slightly inappropriate at times? Apparently, the inhibitory centers of the frontal lobe become sclerotic along with the arteries. Eastwood’s joke about Obama telling Romney to do something that is physically impossible was an exact illustration. I think Clint Eastwood’s speech was perfect. It was brilliant and well-conceived. The audience as well as Mr. and Mrs. American Citizen watching at home got it and gave their unreserved approval.

    Speaking of bizzare and disconnected.

Yes, our empty suit is nearly as empty as the Dems. Maybe if we shamelessly pandered to minorities instead of concentrating on treating all Americans equally, we could attract a few more self-interested takers like the Democrats hope to.

Me, I’ll always bet on championing American values and the way of liberty. I have faith that there are still enough people out there who want to think and do for themselves, that the American way can still win out.
