Bill O’Reilly highlights a study by the Media Research Center which points out the abject hypocrisy of the Marxists in the Obama Administration’s Ministry of Public Enlightenment (aka the “mainstream” media).
From January to April 2004, the ABC and CBS evening news shows only mentioned Kerry’s wealth once each. And NBC didn’t mention Kerry’s finances or his wife’s wealth at all. Those same three networks have discussed Romney’s wealth a total of 27 times during the same time period in 2012. That’s more than 13 times more than the coverage given Kerry’s wealth (27 stories to 2 stories).
In 2012, NBC News anchor Brian Williams described Mitt Romney’s wealth as “unimaginable,” the product of “vast investments after a successful career in business, much of it spent buying and selling companies,” during the Jan. 24, edition of “Nightly News.” In the first four months of 2004, NBC didn’t even note Kerry’s far more substantial wealth.
According to Forbes estimates from 2004, Kerry himself was worth about $240 million. Teresa Heinz Kerry, his wife, was heir to the Heinz empire and worth anywhere from $500 million to $1 billion more. Romney’s estimated net worth is $250 million – or one third to one-fifth the wealth Kerry and his wife had at the time.
That’s the nature of Marxist class envy: not only hatred of successful people and their wealth…but very selective and hypocritical angst. If you’re one of the “in crowd” under Marxism, you’re exempt from the criticisms others face.
Marxism is the real-world embodiment of the hypocritical double standard seen in George Orwell’s “Animal Farm” where the pigs made rules for all the animals on the farm. The rules started out claiming “All animals are equal,” but before long, the rules were amended to give the pigs more privilege: “All animals are equal…but some animals are more equal than others.”
The Occupy Wall Street idiots and all other liberals who begrudge people the use of their own property would do well to learn these lessons. After all, if they optimistically fancy themselves getting a “pig” slot in their glorious socialist revolution, they’d better think again. There are very few openings in Marxist societies (as history repeatedly shows), unlike the free market where everyone has an opportunity to succeed.
