Left Bashes Santorum Charity, Gives Pass to Obama

There really is no hypocrisy too low for the Left, is there?

MSNBC’s Martin Bashir, not content that he and his fellow “mainstream” media Leftists have driven Rick Santorum out of the presidential race, had to get in one final (I realize I could be speaking too soon when I say “final”) swipe in at conservative by bashing Santorum’s charitable giving.

It seems that based on Santorum’s tax returns, he has given 2% of his income to charity.  Bashir, ever on  the hunt for conservative-bashing fodder (while running around with his fists shoved into his eye sockets regarding the Left) sees hypocrisy because Christians are instructed to give at least 10% of their income to charity.

This is true.  And as study after study has repeatedly show, unlike cheapskate liberals who want to be charitable with YOUR money, conservatives and Christians do indeed give more generously than Leftists do.

The Bible also acknowledges that sometimes poverty occurs–and every now and then, it isn’t even as a result of a poor work ethic, bad attitude, substance abuse, or laziness. I don’t think the Santorum family is in poverty, but given their family situation which includes the ongoing serious illness of little Bella Santorum, they have significant medical expenditures. While they may not be at the poverty level, these medical expenditures may have them below the point where they are able to give 10% or more.

Of course, while the liberal “solution” is to stick someone up with the “gun” of government force and lighten their pockets, conservatives believe in carrying your own load and in private charity where one cannot carry their own load; indeed, the private model is how our nation operated for most of its history, and is the only Constitutional way for our country to operate.

Notice, too, that Bashir holds up his Obamessiah as the standard, who, now that he is in the public limelight, has recently given 22% of his income to charity. Yes, now that he’s in the limelight and has everything (food, shelter, transportation, entertainment, health care, etc.) provided day and night by legions of public servants at taxpayer expense, he seems to be donating quite a bit.  But what was Obama doing before anyone was looking, i.e. prior to his run for and ascendancy to the presidency?

Well, according to ABC about four years ago, over about a four-year period, the Obamas had made about $1.2 million and given…wait for it…about 0.90% of their income to charity.  I’ve been out of school for a long time, but if my math skills still serve, 0.90% is somewhat less than 2%–especially without the financial burden of a very sick child.

Not to toot my own horn, but during that same time period, I only made a fraction of the Obamas’ income, yet I gave somewhere between 15 and 20 times more of my income as a percentage to charity.  I, too, didn’t have a continuously sick child to care for during that time, either (though I was still paying off medical bills from one that was born sick).

So once again, we see the “selective” outrage of the “mainstream” media…as well as the “selective” reporting…and, as always, the complete hypocrisy of this pack of jackals. It’s been a long time since the truth of a situation was important to the “mainstream” media.
