Spirtual Leaders Summit Held in Pierre

Pastors, ministry leaders and elected officials gather in the rotunda of the South Dakota Capitol

The Family Heritage Alliance held a  Spirtual Leaders Summit at the South Dakota State Capitol in Pierre yesterday.

The event brought nearly 100 pastors and ministry leaders from across the state to learn about some of the legislation being considered, and to meet with legislators.

The event began in the morning with a presentation by FHA Executive Director Dale Bartscher on some of the important bills being considered by the South Dakota Legislature.

One bill discussed was HB 1150, a bill aimed against crisis pregnancy centers by pro-abortion activists, which was just voted down earlier that morning.

Also discussed were SB 167 and SB 175 which seek to expand gambling in South Dakota and prey off the people even more.

After the presentation, pastors and ministry leaders were on their own to visit the House and Senate floors and meet with elected representatives.

At 11:30 am, everyone gathered at the stairwell under the rotunda, joining with many elected officials in the capital, to take a group photo and sing a couple of patriotic songs (pictured above).

A luncheon was then held at the Community Bible Church where several elected officials attended and introduced themselves.

Special speakers were Eric Stanley, Chief Legal Counsel for the Alliance Defense Fund, and Stephen Wesolick, an ADF Allied Attorney from Rapid City, South Dakota. Both spoke on the need for the Christian community to engage the culture, and the legal freedom Christians have to do so.
