There are more instances of the abridgment of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments of those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations. – James Madison, father of the Constitution
I served four years in the military (USMC, ’67-’71), and my job was Top Secret communications intelligence. After training I served in Vietnam and Scotland and, while there, I had my local newspaper mailed to me. I can still remember the first time I read in print a bald-faced lie disseminated by my federal government.
The State Department issued a statement that the U.S. had no military presence in Cyprus…yet a fellow Marine had just been sent there to do the same intelligence work we were doing in Vietnam! Quite a shock for an eighteen-year-old boy who had just a year earlier enlisted to make his country safe from the communist threat of North Vietnam.
OK, I was naïve and ignorant, but…the government lies to the American people?!? How can that be? But that was only the first time. “We have no military interests or presence in Turkey” was another lie; the accidental sinking of the USS Thresher was another; what we were doing in Vietnam yet another. My clearance and the work I did gave me access to information that most Americans would never see, and that enabled me to recognize the lies. It wasn’t all the time, but suffice it to say that it happened enough to thoroughly disillusion me.
Fast forward forty-something years, and my government is telling me it’s buying almost two billion rounds of anti-personnel ammunition for “training.” Never mind that hollow point rounds, which expand and do maximum damage to human tissue, are far more expensive than usual training rounds (FMJ, full metal jacket, also called round-nose or ‘ball’ ammo). After all, the government is wasteful, right? So some idiot is probably just buying the wrong ammo for training…right?
For the Social Security Administration? The national weather administration? Even for the Department of Homeland Security…why do they need that many rounds? (At the same time they’re telling Americans that we don’t “need” assault rifles and high-capacity magazines!) And that type of ammo? And why, in training, are they using the “de-sensitizing” targets, Americans all: a young boy…an old man…even a pregnant woman! What actions are they trying to de-sensitize federal agents to take, other than the shooting of American citizens?
Government agents are being trained to shoot American citizens.
If you didn’t get a shiver down your spine at reading that, then you’re part of the problem. Just like the complacent Congress that has sat on its collective butt while federal agencies purchase massive amounts of guns and ammunition, ammunition that is outlawed by the Geneva Convention and thus can’t be used by our troops at war. Despite their oath to “support and defend the Constitution,” which specifically prohibits our military forces from being used against citizens, they remain compliant and meek. Of course, once we’re disarmed and sufficiently cowed by federal actions (read: once they respond to constitutional resistance and protests with overwhelming firepower, killing American citizens), those now in Congress won’t even have to bother trying to misdirect our attention from their corruption, anti-Constitutional legislation and general incompetence, will they? As the bumper sticker says, “an armed man is a citizen; a disarmed man is a subject.”
The American Revolution battle cry was “No taxation without representation!” But where is our representation today? The Obama administration (like the Bush administration, et al) violated the Constitution repeatedly in his first term, mostly without any resistance from Congress. Given his smug arrogance and obvious disdain for everything this nation has stood for, do you honestly think he feels any restraints, Constitutional or otherwise, on his plans for this term? In fact, he famously declared his intent to the Russian statesman when he mistakenly thought his microphone was off!
The State Department, long a cesspool of anti-American socialist idealogues, is trying to impose a United Nations ban on firearms on the American people. The UN, a collection of third-world thugs and dictators, determining our laws? And Congress isn’t outraged?
Senator Feinstein’s gun control proposals, along with Obama’s twenty-three Executive Orders, are all un-Constitutional, plain and simple. So we have our elected representatives ‘debating’ over a patently unconstitutional proposal! Some state proposed a bill requiring a four-year prison term for anyone proposing anti-Constitutional gun control legislation, and I think that’s a pretty darn good start!
Your government is preparing to fight YOU. That’s not hysteria; it’s fact. And if it comes to that, they will win. They have the weaponry; the soldiers, federal agents and police departments will, mostly, obey orders, else face dismissal or prosecution. The Germans said they were “following orders;” do you think federal agents will refuse to?
In an obscure letter in 1825, long after leaving the presidency, Thomas Jefferson wrote of those in government: “[Some] fear the people, and wish to transfer all power to the higher classes of society; [some] consider the people as the safest depository of power in the last resort; they cherish them therefore, and wish to leave in them all the powers to the exercise of which they are competent.” Can you identify any serving politician, in either party, who today falls into that latter category?
There is a quote, sometimes erroneously attributed to Jefferson: “Where the people fear the government you have tyranny. Where the government fears the people you have liberty.” The president had the bolts removed from the rifles carried by the U.S. Marines who marched in his recent inaugural parade. That’s not fear as much as it’s distrust. How much more do you think he distrusts the 63 million gun owners in the U.S.? It’s often said that those who don’t trust others know how untrustworthy they themselves are, and project that on others. I don’t think Obama fears gun owners enough, for I believe that he will try to remove their firearms, forcibly if necessary, so he and the other elected nobility can feel safe as they continue to dismantle the foundations of our democratic republic. Thus the government arms build-up.
Your government is preparing to do just that, and to fight against you if you protest. No, I’m not a “right-wing crackpot,’ or a survivalist or a birther, etc. I’m just an American citizen and patriot, who served my nation gladly in gratitude for the benefits of liberty and the prosperity it brings, things I want my grandchildren to experience and enjoy. Today, my government is the single biggest threat to that.
The fact that they don’t even seem to care that we know they’re preparing to fight against us should be the most frightening thing you’ve ever encountered in your life. Here is Jefferson again about the dangers of government: “The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the Constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first.”
People in your government do not want to be “tied down…with the chains of the Constitution.” Noah Webster, another member of the Founding generation, wrote: “There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters.” Such are those in the U.S. government today, both parties, who see themselves as superior to ordinary Americans, and consider themselves more able to make decisions about what benefits this nation and its citizens than you or I. Even to the point where they’re willing to have U.S. government agents prepare to fight against American citizens, should we resist such unconstitutional acts as violating our Second Amendment rights.
Throughout history, ordinary people soothed themselves with the comfortable lie that “It can’t happen here.” Ask the Germans, Austrians, Poles, Czechs, et al, who lived through WWII. Read what the majority of Russians thought about the Bolzheviks before they took power and ruled that nation with an iron fist for almost a century. The Founders put power in our hands, and warned against the danger of government, for a reason. Ronald Reagan said it best: “Government is not the solution; government is the problem.”
Are you not going to understand that until it’s too late to do anything about it?

"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party over to the traitors in the battle just ended. We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support. Turning the party over to the so-called moderates wouldn't make any sense at all." - Ronald Reagan, Nov. 10, 1964
